There are those times in anyone's life when all they need is a spiffy outfit to make their day better! I am definitely that kind of person -- If I am having a bad day, I'd go digging through my wardrobe. This outfit is what Eliza Doolittle would wear if she was around in today's world. Initially, when I put this outfit together, I didn't realise I was channelling her -- that is until my mum asked me about it!

I grew up watching Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Julie Andrews movies so it's no great leap that I have taken inspiration from them from time to time.

While dressing up for anything, I put a lot of thought into what I would like to project with my outfit. I like to look elegant while still adding my twist to the definition of elegance. I also really look at dressing in a manner to complements my attributes. Being petite does not mean you've got to shy away from certain silhouettes or hemlines!

For the longest while, this particular skirt sat unworn in my wardrobe. I thought a handkerchief hemline would make me look dumpy. Au contraire, I saw once I finally styled the skirt that it worked incredibly well on me! I wore the skirt a little higher up than my actual waistline, creating the illusion of my lower body being longer and streamlined. Tucking a plain shirt into the skirt also gave me the appearance of both having a shorter torso and being slimmer than I am! That's the dream, right? I paired the ensemble with tan-coloured boots and a bright bag. Oh, don't forget the hat! It's always a fun accessory to carry -- and it resonates with the theme I was going for with the entire outfit.

Let me know if you'd like to read more about such fashion stories of mine! Also, if there are any such inspirations that you've worked on (however loosely it might be), let me know. I'd love to see them:)

Cheers!
