9 Reasons to watch Castle

There are shows that you watch because they evoke some emotion in you. Castle is one such show for me. I am never going to grow out of this show, ever! After Firefly this was a show I fell back in love with Nathan. No matter how it ended, I am a fan of the show for oh-so-many reasons!

#1: Kate Beckett

She is, by far, my favourite female lead on TV. A complicated character with a backstory and yet enough guts to take on the criminal world of NYC? Yup, my kinda woman-crush. The way she handles Castle being Castle in the first few seasons (and later on too!) is fun to watch too. She had the very best closet to drool over - those leather jackets and blazers! Her hair and makeup ought to get honorary mentions too!

#2: Solving crimes in high heels

I worked fashion shows in high heels so I know it's no easy feat. So, I reckon it's even harder to solve crimes in them! Running after criminals and chasing them through the streets is just plain sexy. Not to mention admirable. She made me love heels more than I do!

#3: The childlike nature of Rick Castle

Rick is just a big kid throughout the show. So very endearing. Even when he has his serious moments you do see quite a bit of the wondrous nature peep through. In a world filled with crime and violence, it's incredibly hard to retain to being a 3-year-old mentally. His being a kid also gave us some laughs!

#4: The author & his muse

There are just some strange partnerships that work. Castle and Beckett were just that. They just fit. Being a cop, Beckett was a rule follower. She needed someone like Castle to shake things up. They made each other better by being partners - Rick gets more in touch with making tough calls and Kate honestly does let her hair down and starts letting people in and brings her walls down.

#5: Chemistry

Boy-oh-boy! The chemistry in this show sets the screen on fire. Not just Beckett and Castle, but have you seen 'Esplaine'? Then there is the sweet energy of Ryan and Jenny which is just a dependable kind of relationship - stable and strong.

#6: Father-daughter duo

I am a big fan of father-daughter moments. Rick as a dad to his daughter Alexis is one of my favourite moments. He showcases what a dad should be in real life. Someone who'd always be there for you, who'd scare the boys in your life to not take advantage of you and who'd do anything to keep you safe. Jim Beckett is what you'd want your dad to be when you're all grown up. He listens to you and gives you sound advice - which as a grown up I need a lot of! Having a dad who's involved is just the best, right?

#7: Martha

Can I order a grandmother like Martha, pretty please? She is just the coolest person on the show! She dresses to the tee, is an awesome influence on just about everyone and is such a diva - seems like a perfect addition to my family. She's just nutty enough to be interesting and works for her craft. There's a lot to be said for anyone who always can land on their feet!

#8: The Boys

There are a lot of bromances on TV. We all know that! But there's something special about these two. Them being there for each other through everything just is something incredibly great to watch. We need friendships like these! Adding Rick to the mix gives it the perfect mix.

#9: Kate & Lanie's friendship

We all need girlfriends like Lanie. She's sassy and tells you just like it is. There's no sugarcoating anything! That's the kind of friendships we need as women especially when we're all grown up. You see how the bond between the two women blossoms and strengthens as the show progresses.

Talking about it has now made me want to rewatch it! I am pretty sure I know 90% of the show's lines by now. Maybe I should learn the rest?

Give it a watch if you haven't and let me know what you think!

Cheers!
