Dress for Summer: Maxi Dress

Dressing in maxi dresses for the summer is something, I think, is very flattering for any body type. All one has to really know is to choose the right fit for your body. I like patterns on my maxi dresses. Ruched up waistlines create the illusion of a smaller waist. I also tend to prefer to adjust it so that it's quite higher up than my actual waistline, as this make me look a lot taller than I actually am! It's all about perception. This particular maxi dress was bought at Francesca's in Atlanta.

Last weekend, I wore this dress to a friend's birthday dinner. It was at a Mediterranean Restaurant Kefi. The attire went perfectly with the theme of the restaurant. I usually wear heeled shoes which are truly high with longer dresses. But I wanted to still have the entire look pretty laid-back which is why I wore a pair of wedges with ankle strap. I wore my hair up as it was a hot and humid night.

The details on the dress that I loved the most were the slit in the front and the shoestring straps. The slit in front was from the knee down. I felt that it was a very nice addition which added a little something to the dress. It drew attention to the drape of the dress when you walked. More importantly, it gives you the ease of movement, which is very important to me! Shoestring straps are probably one of my favorite type. They are barely there and look utterly feminine and dainty. These two features of the dress makes it one of the most reached for maxis in my closet.

Let me know if you have a favorite maxi dress in your closet!
