Nykaa SkinGenius: First Impression

I've been indecisive about stick foundations for quite a while now. A couple days ago, I made up my mind that I will try one from the drugstore to figure out my thoughts on the product.

I got the Nykaa SKINgenius Foundation Stick (₹525) in the mail today and I was very excited to try it! Nykaa is my go-to online beauty boutique in India. It has an amazing range of products in one place and I get to browse and shop in my pyjamas! What could be more perfect? The Nykaa Cosmetics brand is the channel's very own lineup of products, which I personally think are amazing.

So, immediately after, I trialed this product and wore it through the day. I'm the shade 06 Golden Hazelnut. I frankly love the names for the colors! This is a perfect match for my skin, which is a medium with yellow/golden undertones. It literally is my skin but better. I swiped on one layer and buffed it in with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I went over it with a dampened sponge to create a more flawless effect. I am quite impressed with the coverage it's given me. I like the medium coverage which just gives me an even enough coverage. You can build it up, though I prefer it the way I wore it. I set it with the NYX Mineral Matte Finishing Powder which I love. It doesn't add any color but works to make sure your makeup stays put.I also swiped a little of a coppery shade over my eyelids from the M.A.C 'Mortal' Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Palette ($44). This palette was one of those limited edition pieces that M.A.C released in collabration with Brook Shields. It's a gorgeous palette.

I knew for a fact I would be sweating and I wanted to know how this foundation wore. It feels very natural on my face. The best part was that it did not oxidize -- which is usually the problem with lots of drugstore foundations for me. The coverage works well for me for a laid back day when I'm just running doing errands. I think I would be reaching for this product quite a bit which is quite surprising! If I do keep loving this, I might even spring for one of those top shelf Stick foundations I've been eyeing.

In conclusion, I do believe this product is worth the money spent. It is quite an easy to wear foundation. I think it's especially nicer worked in with a dampened sponge than a brush. It's the perfect product for newbies to try out because you can't go wrong!

Cheers! Madhu x
